Pros and cons of qDslrDashboard app for iPhone and iPad

qDslrDashboard app good for

Many thanks to developer! Really working app! Works on both my Nikons cameras D800 and D3. Waiting for further updates and features.
Little buggy here and there but for the price you cant beat it, and the lrtimelapse function is amazing
When I first bought the app it crashed every time I tried to connect to my Canon 6D. After resetting my cameras wifi settings, then making a new wifi connection profile for this app specifically Ive had no problems. I use this app in conjunction with LRTimeLapse to make sunrise and sunset time lapses that dont flicker and adjust exposure automatically. This app is way convenient, set it up, turn on the intervalometer and relax. 4 stars since the app is awesome and way convenient. Not 5 since getting it working the first time was difficult and it does take a bit of practice to get used to...
A turnkey solution for complete control over DSLR cameras. Tried it for astrophotography and it was amazing!!!
10€ to give a wifi access to not so old Canon dsl. I tried with Eos 550d and 5d mark iii and it works like a charm. Great support on Zoltan website.
Spent a few hours today with qDslrDashboard and a Nikon D7200. Using the cameras built in wifi and an old iPad I took a few dozen photos. Very happy with all the controls offered by the program. Behaved a little strange first time I ran it but I rebooted the iPad and No crashes. Really easy to check focus, just tap anywhere on the full res preview and the built in viewer zooms in at 100%. A massive upgrade from the little joke of an app that nikon provides.

Some bad moments

I have a Mk 3 5D and iOS. This app can not communicate with the camera via USB. Its not even an option on the apps screen. Needs work badly so save your money and dont buy until USB gets added. I wish I had realized that before I spent the $10.
Blank screen. Doesnt even match what they are showing in the App Store. No real instructions on the app beside the main site has a file you just follow along, but how am I supposed to even figure it out when the app doesnt work. Wasted 10 bucks.
Dont waste money. Doesnt detect or connect to 5D MK3 dslr. $10 gone.
I have tried everything to get this app to work with Canon 5D Mark III with iphone 6 plus but it wont connect. Emailed Mr. Hubai with details but never got a response. His website times out (error 504) so I dont know if its a valid site any more. Apple should pull this app as its not supported, at least actively. So if you want gamble $10 on this app thats what it will be...a gamble.
It doesnt work with my TP-LINK TL-MR11U and my Canon 5D MarkII..
hello, i was quite happy with version 2.9. only problem i had, that the wlan modul crashed regulary, when taking a lot of photos in a row ( camera NOT in live mode). version 3.0 unfortunatly doesn t connect with either canon 5d mark II or III most of the times, just very rarely. if it connects at all at least one more bug is there: in version 2.9 it was easy to use the loupe function to zoom in and out of the picture to control the sharpness or the distance settings. now in 3.0 it works with a sub-menue, which is not usable in practice, as it makes things just too complicated... therefore version 3.0 doesn t make sense at all! luckily i still had version 2.9 on itunes, so i deleted 3.0 on my ipad and downgraded through syncronisation with my dektop. one should always do this with upgrades. load them on your device, test them. if they don t work delete the app from device and load it again from your itunes backup
